Two Carl-Zeiss-Humboldt Research Awards for experts in physics and artificial intelligence
Thomas Becher and Gustau Camps-Valls have each received the €100,000 Carl-Zeiss-Humboldt Research Award. Professor Camps-Valls, from the Universitat de València, is recognized for his pioneering work in using artificial intelligence for Earth observation and will use the award to study extreme climate events and their impacts on ecosystems and communities. Meanwhile, Professor Becher is honored for his ground-breaking contributions to theoretical elementary particle physics.
